Trade #4: Charlotte Hornets — Kemba Walker and Kyrie Irving

The Charlotte Hornets, who drafted a superb shooter in Malik Monk, could use a dynamic point guard like Kyrie Irving. Kemba Walker, who is a dynamic point guard and possibly a top 10-15 player at his position, is not quite as dynamic as Irving. With a top-class shooter like Monk, having a more dynamic, havoc-causing point guard would be beneficial for Charlotte.

Walker could quite possibly be a better shooter though, making 3.0 threes per game last season. Over 40% of Walker’s shots came from downtown. The 27-year-old will be looking to cash in on a max contract at the same time as Irving, following the 2018-2019 season. If James does not end up staying in Cleveland, he can rest assured that Walker would probably agree to be the man and take the max.

Giving up Batum would be huge as well. He is one of the NBA’s best Swiss army knives. He averaged 1.8 threes, 5.9 assists, 6.2 rebounds, and 15.1 points per game last season. Putting him alongside LeBron, and giving them a sharp shooting, dynamic guard like Kemba could be a good mix with Love and TT controlling down low. The money has to work, and the Shumpert-Frye combination is one of the only combinations the Cavaliers would be willing to work out.

There are advantages for both teams in this deal, but I’m not sure there is really any interest by either side or at least not yet.
