Trade #1: The Utah Jazz — Rudy Gobert and Kyrie Irving

The Utah Jazz should go into a rebuild mode with Mitchell leading the way, but then why would they need to hang onto Rudy Gobert?

Following the departure of Gordan Hayward, the Jazz are left without that dynamic scorer, but they hope eventually Mitchell will fill that void. Mitchell dominated in the summer league, putting up over 35 on one occasion. For the Jazz, they speed up their rebuild while getting a dynamic point guard and a sound perimeter defender. They trade defense for offense in what would be the blockbuster of the offseason. Their willingness to get in on this trade will all center around how they value Rudy Gobert and Donavan Mitchell, but for them, it might be worth looking into.

Cleveland needs that third team to hop in because they would have little use for Tristan Thompson following a deal with Utah. Thompson and Burks should be enough to get Carmelo, but the Knicks are also looking at a rebuild so they may covet young players. Cleveland would be the obvious winners and would most likely have to be the aggressors in this trade scenario.

In the end, it might be worth it for Utah to snag a thrilling scorer like Kyrie and give the Jazz fans something to cheer for in the post-Hayward era. The defensive effectiveness of LeBron James should also go up with a sound rim-protector like Rudy Gobert behind him.
