Did LeBron James subtweet about Kyrie Irving riding his wave?
LeBron James, who doesn’t use social media too often, might have subtweeted about Kyrie Irving and his success in Cleveland.
Social media is a magical thing. People can type something, and half the time, it can be taken with a completely opposite meaning than it originally was meant to have. Here is a tweet by LeBron James that seemingly calls out Kyrie Irving for riding his wave, and even if that wasn’t his intention, it’s what most infer from it.
To be fair, James, if this tweet is about Kyrie, is not wrong. Since James has returned to Cleveland, Irving has basked in the success that James has brought. It wasn’t until James returned to Cleveland that Irving won more than 35 games in a season. And, after James returned, the Cavaliers have won 50+ games every season.
Along with team success, Kyrie Irving averaged a career-high 25.2 points per game last season while LeBron James averaged a career-high 8.7 assists. Coincidence?
LeBron James has always helped his teammates reach new heights, so it’s ironic that he tweeted that because he has, for years, allowed players to ride his wave. Take James Jones, for example, LeBron James took him to the NBA Finals in seven consecutive seasons, and now he is the president of basketball operations for the Phoenix Suns. Would JJ be in that position without LeBron? Doubtful.
And, to be fair, Irving may have started this feud after a video of him and the Cavaliers nemesis, Stephen Curry, went viral.
With James, Irving has become a better player. Whether he can continue this success without the 4x MVP will be a storyline that the new season will hold, assuming Irving is traded eventually. Irving has already been the man on a team once, and for those three seasons, the Cavaliers won only 78 games. So, James, who may or may not have actually subtweeted Irving, may be right. Irving needs to prove differently, though. In this upcoming season, he needs to have a breakout year and prove his success was not just because of LeBron James.

For future sake, it might be best for both Cavalier superstars to stop with talking about either on social media in case they end up on the same court in the couple months. Talk about awkward.
