The Masterlist of Reported Trade Scenarios Centered on Kyrie Irving
New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns
Carmelo Anthony, Eric Bledsoe (including, possibly, T.J. Warren or Tyson Chandler)
With Carmelo Anthony and Eric Bledsoe coming back in a trade for Kyrie Irving, the Cavs get a volume scorer in Anthony and a well-rounded point guard in Bledsoe.
Bledsoe, who isn’t the shooter Irving is, is an excellent slasher. He’s also a player who will be a more determined facilitator and a better, more consistent defender. Having a point guard who can contain perimeter penetration will do wonders for the team’s defense. Conversely, having a point guard who maintains his focus on keeping his teammates involved could end the stagnation fans would often see from the other Cavs when Irving had the ball in his hands.
While T.J. Warren is a solid scorer at forward, Tyson Chandler is a big, proven rim-protector. Both would be useful, but Chandler moreso, because of the Cavs’ lack of interior defense and dependable depth at the center position.
