Carmelo Anthony, first round picks

In this trade, the Cavs trade one volume scorer for another but one of those players is eight years younger, more explosive and has had some performances against the Golden State Warriors that most others could not reproduce. Anthony would have similar production as Irving in isolation, spot-up situations and post-ups. However, he wouldn’t be able to recreate the ball-handling wizardry or acrobatic finishes of the Cavs’ (soon-to-be former) second-in-command. With that, giving the New York Knicks a point guard who is as talented as Irving and featuring him beside Kristaps Porzingis, a young power forward with All-Star talent, diminishes the value of the first round picks. It would be better if the Cavs got Frank Ntilikina instead.

Ntilikina is a raw rookie point guard that can’t be expected to consistently deliver high-level performances in the Finals against championship contenders so early in his career. However, he has the potential to excel early as well as be the face of the franchise after LeBron James’ departure
