Why the Cavaliers would do it

The Cavaliers, like previously stated, have to do something to keep the King happy. Besides keeping the King happy, they need to build their championship squad while looking for the future.

If the Bucks would allow Middleton to be involved in a trade, then he would be a target for the Cavs. His shooting and playmaking would be a perfect fit for either the starting five, sending Smith to the bench, or the second unit, as the main playmaker. The Cavaliers could then add more superstar talent in Anthony and continue as one of the NBA’s elite sharpshooting teams.

They give up Love, yes, but sending away Love and Shumpert could be the least of their issues since both of them have had underwhelming performances in the playoffs. And, they would lose a couple shooters but gain even better ones. Anthony, who shot 35.9% from three, and Middleton, who shot a stellar 43.3% from three, could help the Cavaliers match the Warriors’ offensive prowess. Middleton is an extremely underrated player and only 25. His 6-foot-8 frame would help matchup against the longer Warriors’ starting five. The Anthony/Middleton addition could be what the Cavs need to reclaim their highly-coveted trophy.

The Bucks could be the team to value and rejuvenate Kevin Love. So, if they feel the additions of Lee and Love could challenge the Cavs in the extremely weak Eastern Conference, then they might give away Middleton.

The team has to do something, and if making this trade happen is the solution to matching the Dubs pure offensive force, then so it is.
