Carmelo Anthony’s best chance at winning it all
By Kyle Jones
Play to win
Anthony can join his best friend in LeBron James and compete for a title in an “up for grabs” Eastern Conference. The competition in the East isn’t as lacking as many make it out to be, with young teams like the Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards poised to take a step forward next year. The Boston Celtics finished as the top-seed in the East without Gordon Hayward, Paul George or Jimmy Butler. However, as Joel Embiid said “playoff spots are opening up”.
With George’s departure from the Eastern Conference (and the Indiana Pacers), the young and up and coming talent will have even more a chance to compete in conference where only one team was dominant in the postseason. Them. To be frank, Carmelo’s chances of winning with any team other than the Cavs in East are slim to none.
Anthony can’t simply run back to the Western Conference and try to force his hand either, unless he joins the Houston Rockets and wants to try to take down the Golden State Warriors before the NBA Finals and then have to face off against James and the Cavs.
Anthony’s pride has to be set aside to make the best decision. It’s all about how the fans, the ones that cheered you on for years, remember you. They’ll remember him based on his desire to put winning first, or win period.
