#3: Swish and Shump

On June 5, 2015 the Cavaliers engineered a three-team trade with the New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder. The Cavs traded away Dion Waiters and a 2019 second-round pick for J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert. A heck of a deal for Cleveland, right?

J.R. Smith is an amazing shooter from beyond the arc who spaces the floor for LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. Smith is a player who prefers to shoot first and ask questions later. He seems to specialize in making deep threes with a hand in his face, earning him the J.R. “Swish” moniker.

Iman Shumpert can also knock down open shot from three, but his best skill set is his defense. Shump is always ready to defend the opposing team’s best player when given the task. Having a defender that can guard anyone 1-3 is as asset in today’s game, when every team seemingly has an elite point guard or small forward.
