NBA Mock Draft: Are Lonzo to LA and Jackson to Boston locks?
Pick No. 7: Malik Monk
Wildcat guards have seen NBA success, and the Minnesota Timberwolves will be looking for a younger, dynamic guard. The Wolves do have Tyus Jones backing up Rubio, but with all the Rubio talk, he could theoretically be out in a heartbeat.
The Wolves will be amazing in a few years. They have their starting shooting guard, small forward, and power forward/center of the future. If they do not take Monk, they will most likely snag FSU’s, Jonathon Issac. Personally, I am high on UK guards, and rightfully so, they have shown out on several occasions in the NBA.
Monk who scored almost 20 points per game on a loaded Kentucky team would be a great addition. The Timberwolves were dead last in threes per game, making just 7.3 per game. Good news for them is that Monk is a knockdown shooter. While at UK, Monk made 2.7 threes per game on almost 40% from downtown.
Monk would help the Wolves get younger AND improve on their biggest weakness.
