NBA Mock Draft: Are Lonzo to LA and Jackson to Boston locks?
Pick No. 2: Lonzo Ball
There is no way that the Lakers pass up on hometown star Lonzo Ball. The 6-foot-6 guard has the ability to finally put together the pieces of the puzzle in LA.
Lonzo Ball averaged 14.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game and helped guide UCLA to the NCAA tournament. Ball is perhaps the draft’s most unique prospect. He is an oversized guard with legendary vision. In his time at UCLA, he was able to show off his leadership and passing abilities. He’s different. His pass-first mentality has him as a top 3 overall pick.
Even though he has an uncharacteristic shot, Ball should still be able to excel in the NBA. He fits in perfectly with the Lakers too. With Randle, Ingram, Russell, and Clarkson as the team’s young core, it would be preferred to put a pass-first player like Ball in the mix, especially since the Lakers ranked 26th in assists this past season.
The stars are aligning perfectly for Ball and his Big Baller Brand to stay in LA. The speculation is there, but I don’t see LA taking anyone other than Lonzo.
