Ranking LeBron James Top 10 Playoff Records
#4: Only Player In The Top 10 In Points, Rebounds, Assists, and Steals
LeBron James ranks 1st in points, 2nd in steals, 3rd in assists, and 7th in rebounds on the postseason leaderboards. He is the only player to rank in the top 10 in all of those categories in NBA history. If that doesn’t show that James is the best all-around player ever, what will?
James passed Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan in steals in the 2017 postseason. LeBron needs just 6 steals to pass Scottie Pippen (395) for the best mark in NBA history, a record he will surpass in the 2018 postseason.
James ranks 3rd all-time in assists with 1,489, trailing Magic Johnson (2,346) and John Stockton (1,839). James added 141 assists to his total in the 2017 postseason. LeBron is only 350 assists behind Stockton, so he has a good chance of becoming second all time when his career is over. For James to pass Magic, he would need to keep up his current pace for a little over six postseasons. That would put LeBron at 39 years old, making his chances of becoming the all-time leader in postseason assist very slim.
Finally, LeBron is 7th on the all time rebounding list, with 1,922 boards. Karl Malone (2,062) and Kareem-Abdul Jabbar (2,481) rank ahead of James at 6th and 5th place. James pulled down 164 rebounds in the 2017 postseason, so he will have the opportunity to pass Malone in the 2018 playoffs. No active players are close to catching Bill Russell’s mark of 4,104 rebounds. That record may very well hold for another 50 years!
