#5: 1st All-Time In Playoff Points

LeBron has led his team to eight Finals appearances in his career, and his scoring output in all of those games has added up quite nicely. In Game 5 of the Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics, James scored 35 points to pass Michael Jordan’s playoff scoring record of 5,987 points.

LeBron is steadily widening his lead on the rest of the NBA, as he now has 6,163 points in the postseason. This record might mean the most to LeBron, as he idolized Jordan growing up. James credits Jordan for giving him a dream to chase, per Ben Golliver of Sports Illustrated.

"“I wear the number [23] because of Mike,” James said after Game 5. “I think I fell in love with the game because of Mike, seeing what he was able to accomplish. When you’re growing up and seeing Michael Jordan, it’s almost like a God. I didn’t ever believe I could be Mike. I started to focus myself on other players and other people around my neighborhood. I never thought I could get to a point where Mike was. I think that helped shape my game.”"

LeBron made his first playoff appearance at the age of 21 in 2006, and he has never missed the playoffs since. Also, James has never been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. That sort of consistency is the reason why James has already surpassed Jordan in both postseason points and games played, despite being three years younger than MJ was in his final playoff game.
