Cleveland Cavaliers’ Kay Felder is a 22-year-old point guard who has been curtailed of his stardom. Don’t believe me? Felder notched the second highest vertical of all time in the NBA combine. Felder is much more talented than his Warriors counterpart Patrick McCaw, so why is McCaw a much more talked about prospect?
Simple, it is because of playing time.

Appearing in only 42 games and averaging 9.2 minutes in those contests, Felder scored 4.0 points per game, racked up 1.4 assists per game, and snatched 1.0 rebounds per game. These numbers are underwhelming, but impressive for the little playing time he is receiving. Patrick McCaw posts almost identical statistics while averaging 6 more minutes per game. Appearing in 71 games, McCaw averaged 15.1 minutes per game, 4.0 points per game, 1.1 assists per game, and grabbed 1.4 rebounds per game.

Felder also ravaged his D-League competition. In the 11 times the Cavaliers assigned Felder to their D-League affiliate, the Canton Charge, Felder played an average of 36 minutes per game. During his D-League assignments, he impressively notched 29.9 points per game, 6.0 assists per game, and 3.4 rebounds per game.
During his senior year at Oakland University, Felder played about 36.7 minutes per game, scoring 24.4 points per game, getting 9.3 assists per game, grabbing 4.3 boards per game, and even posting 2.0 steals per game.
