4. Deron Williams needs to step up

The Big 3 combined for 94 of the 137 points in Game 4. J.R. Smith bounced back with a 15 point performance on 5 made threes, but no other Cavaliers scored in double figures. The Cavs likely won’t make 24 threes or get all the calls in Golden State, so they need a role player to step up in Game 5. That role player is Deron Williams.

Deron Williams averaged 13.1 points and 6.9 assists in 40 games this season for the Dallas Mavericks. This guy still has something left in the tank. For some reason, he has been a no-show thus far in the Finals. Deron scored five points in Friday’s win, his first points in the Finals! Williams is averaging more fouls per game, (1.8) than points and assists, (1.3) and (1.0). To say that he has been a disappointment would be an understatement.

Williams has scored 14 points twice so far in this postseason, and we need a similar performance from Williams to win in Game 5. This is who the Cavaliers signed to curb LeBron James’ appetite for a third playmaker. Williams needs to deliver.

D-Will was scoreless in the Cavaliers loss to the Celtics in Game 3 in Cleveland along with our three losses in the Finals.

The Cavaliers have won every other playoff game in which Williams has scored at least one bucket. If Deron can turn back the clock for a big performance in Game 5, the win trend should continue.
