LeBron James Passes Michael Jordan In Playoff Points
LeBron James passes his idol Michael Jordan in postseason points for 1st all time.
The King is playing arguably the best basketball of his career in the playoffs. LeBron James has broken so many records in this postseason, that it is hard to believe. LeBron has passed Kobe Bryant and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in points. He passed Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan in steals. He also passed Tim Duncan for the most best of seven playoff sweeps in NBA History.
In Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals, he passed Michael Jordan in playoff points for sole possession of the top spot in NBA History. He needed only 28 point to tie His Airness, 18 of which came in the first half. LeBron scored his 29th point in the third quarter on a spot up three to put the Cavs up by 32 points.
It must be a sweet feeling for LeBron. In the 2010 playoffs against Paul Pierce’s Boston Celtics, the Cavaliers were eliminated in six games and LeBron infamously pulled off his jersey at the end of the game and announced that summer that he was, “taking my talents to South Beach.”

Media personalities and “fans” criticized LeBron for not being able to win in the postseason. They said that he gave up on his team in Game 6 in the TD Garden, even though he posted a 27 point, 19 rebound, 10 assist triple-double. James became the most criticized athlete in professional sports and he became the butt of many internet jokes.
Only seven years later, he returned to Boston a completely different player. He now has four MVP’s, three NBA Championships, and three Finals MVP’s. James has put to rest every critique that was thrown his way only seven years ago. Now, he advances to a seventh straight NBA Finals to take on Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors.
LeBron isn’t chasing Jordan’s records
LeBron was asked about his desire to chase the ghost of Michael Jordan, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com:
"“It’s just a personal goal of mine. it has nothing to do with passing the rings, passing the points, passing MVPs. It’s just my personal goal to keep me motivated, that’s all.”"
LeBron James doesn’t want to have the same stats or legacy as Michael Jordan, he wants to create his own.
