Cleveland Cavaliers vs Boston Celtics Game 4: What We Learned
4. Kyrie Irving is an assassin with a basketball.
The resurgence of Kyrie is by far the best thing to come out of the last two games. Irving was forced to step up when James picked up his fourth foul in the second quarter. He was more than willing to answer the call.
He finished with a playoff career high of 42 points on 15 of 22 shooting including 4 of 7 from deep. Kyrie went nuclear scoring 32 points in the following 19 minutes including 19 points in the third quarter alone.
This game was reminiscent of Game 5 of the 2016 Finals. Irving stepped up big with a 41 point performance when the Cavs’ backs were against the wall.
Irving has shown throughout his young playoff career that he has the ability to take over playoff games like this one. The Cavs would likely be heading back to Boston tied at 2 if Irving doesn’t take over the game like he did.
The Cavs will most likely go on to face the Warriors in the Finals. In the week leading up to the game many people will talk about who the “x-factor” of the series will be. The correct answer to that is Kyrie Irving.
The Cavs need Kyrie Irving to be on top of his game to take down the Warriors. He appears to be in control of his game now after having a slow start to the playoffs.
