3. Austin Carr (1971)

Austin Carr was the first number one overall pick in Cleveland Cavaliers history. He played his college ball in Notre Dame and is lovingly referred to around Cleveland as “Mr. Cavalier.”

Carr led Cleveland to three playoff appearances during his tenure. His best year came during his third season, when he averaged 21.9 points and 3.8 assists per game.

Unfortunately for Carr, injuries would have a significant impact on his career.

Carr retired in the 1980-81 season with the Washington Bullets, giving him career averages of 15.4 points and 2.8 assists per game.

Austin Carr is now a color commentator for the Cleveland Cavaliers on Fox Sports Ohio.
