SF P.J. Tucker

2016-17 stats (81 games):

6.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 1.2 assists per game

41.3 FG%, 35.7 3PT%, 77.4 FT%

What he can bring to the Cleveland Cavaliers:

Defense, versatility, toughness

P.J. Tucker is a tough competitor and defender who is undersized in terms of height but has the girth and muscle mass that allows to compete with forwards while possessing enough athletic ability to defend shooting guards as well.

He’d be a versatile and dynamic defender for the Cleveland Cavaliers who, quite frankly, are a team that needs at least one more impact defender on the roster next season.

Offensively, Tucker is more of an inside-out player who gets a good feel for his shots after watching a couple of shots fall in from in close. He’s smart about what players he wants to backdown and because of his height, he often has a serious weight advantage when guarded by shorter players. That, of course, aids Tucker in his attempts to barrel towards the rim.

Tucker is a capable catch-and-shoot player but also able to attack the rim off-the-dribble, albeit in straight-line drives.

However, he shouldn’t be mistaken as a scorer though. His scoring ability is on the level of a player like Richard Jefferson.

An in-season writeup for Tucker’s strengths, produced by King James Gospel, can be found here.
