SG Dwyane Wade

2016-17 stats (60 games):

18.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.8 assist, 1.4 steals, 0.7 blocks per game

43.4 FG%, 31.0 3PT%, 79.4 FT%

What he can bring to the Cleveland Cavaliers:

Midrange shooting, creativity, veteran savvy, former All-Star

Dwyane Wade, though one of the best shooting guards of all-time and a future Hall of Famer at the position, is more like a combo guard than a true shooting guard with his ability to set up his teammates.

His court vision and his ability to make tough and timely passes is what allowed him to dish out 10 assists against the Cleveland Cavaliers in their final meeting of the regular season. On the Cleveland Cavaliers, Wade’s experience in setting up James will give the Cavs a tertiary ball-handler that allows the Wine and Gold to continue weaponizing James.

As far as scoring, Wade will be rock solid in terms of his ability to shoot from the midrange, get to the rim and finish, score from the post and draw fouls. However, the glaring weakness in his offensive game has always been his three-point shooting ability although he’s had quite a few quality performances from three-point range this season.

Defensively, when Wade has the energy, he’s solid on the wings. He still remains one of the best blocking wings in the NBA. Nonetheless, Wade will need a player beside him in the backcourt that allows him to hide defensively. The Cavs did that this year with both Kyrie Irving and Deron Williams.
