PG Shelvin Mack

2016-17 stats (55 games):

7.8 points, 2.8 assists, 2.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals per game

44.6 FG%, 30.8 3PT%, 68.8 FT%

What he can bring to the Cleveland Cavaliers:

Ability to get into the lane and finish, perimeter defense

Shelvin Mack is a tough bulldog type of point guard that would be an interesting contrast to Kyrie Irving.

Offensively, Mack excels at getting to the rim. In general, Mack’s game is based on what he can do inside the arc as he shoots well from the midrange as well. From three-point range, Mack is another player who’s more inconsistent than incapable.

That bears out in his free-throw shooting as well, as it generally does for NBA players.

While he’s not a ball-dominant floor general, he has solid offense awareness and court vision. He won’t hesitate to use his ability to penetrate the lane to work a teammate open.

Mack is a point guard who won’t be a liability on defense and that’s the most important part about his game. In fact, Mack’s ability to mirror the ball handler and close the air space between he and his matchups will make him an impact player on the defensive end.
