The Cleveland Cavaliers will be busy this offseason and more drama around the team during the postseason.

The Orlando Magic plan to offer Cavs general manager David Griffin the president of basketball operations job, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

The Cavs are in the postseason, thus, the Magic and Griffin can’t negotiate terms on a contract. They will have to when the Cavs season ends, per Windhorst.

The Cavs and Griffin have not “held meaningful discussions on contract extension,” per Windhorst. Griffin’s contract is up at the end of the season.

If you recall, LeBron James gave an endorsement to Griffin during the season and would love for Griffin to stay with the team. Griffin made the crucial trades that got the team Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith. He also executed the trade for Kevin Love. For Cavs owner Dan Gilbert when he bought the team in 2005, Griffin is his fourth general manager.

There is no better person for the job than David Griffin as general manager for the Cavs. This is the most pressured job in the NBA right now. He handles the pressure so well. Who knows what general manager can do better under the pressure and circumstances of being the general manager of the Cavs, especially with having LeBron James on your roster.

Griffin has brought this team together and knows this team better than anyone. Griffin goes on road trips with the team and he is so connected with the team. He was the one who made the crucial firing of former Cavs head coach David Blatt and hired Tyronn Lue.

I would love to have Griffin back with the team. He handles the pressure so well. I don’t think there is any other candidate out there on the market that can do a better job.
