The Brooklyn Nets need to retool and rebuild and they can do just that with a trade for Kevin Love.

With Lopez as the best player on the team and no recent success to attract superstar free agents, Lopez should be traded for a cornerstone for rebuild. One such player the team could trade Lopez for is Love.

Love is one of the few players who can make an incredible amount of threes and still pull down plenty of boards. Though he isn’t the best option at center, a team like the Nets can live with him playing center because of the weakside shot-blocking of Trevor Booker.

The Nets have had Brook Lopez as their starting center for eight seasons. Though he’s missed two with foot injuries, the ingenius behemoth has remained in All-Star form, averaging 20.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 blocks per game over the past two seasons.

James thrives when playing beside a big and skilled center. He’s managed to have success with slower centers like Zydraunus Ilgauskus, Shaquille O’Neal, and Timofey Mozgov because of their low-post skill and soft hands offensively as he hits them on pick-and-rolls or simple feeds to the post. When he’s able to hit his center at the elbow on a pick-and-pop the combination is lethal.

There’s no reason to think Irving, James, and Lopez wouldn’t be a formidable Big Three as each brings a unique blend of skills together that allows them dominate throughout a game. Aside from his dominance inside, the Cavaliers could use a player like Lopez to draw defenders into the lane and away from players like Kyrie Irving, Channing Frye, J.R. Smith and Kyle Korver on the perimeter.
