How Jordan McRae has performed prior to the All-Star break:
Joran McRae is an enigma. There are times when he’s on the court and it’s clear that he needs to develop his in-game awareness to an NBA-level. Then there are times when he’s on fire as a scorer and you realize that the kid has a special talent. The reason he receives a “D” is because the “D” stands for “Development”. Development that would greatly benefit McRae, who doesn’t make many plays on the defensive end despite his length. Before the season, McRae looked like a player who could be in the running for Most Improved Player of the year after strong performances throughout the Summer League circuit and the NBA preseason. Now, McRae is going to be a restricted free agent in the offseason after failing to make a strong impression in his second season as a Cav. The team likes him and there’s hope he can develop into a solid rotation player. However, next season may be the last season of the Orange Mamba Experiment.
The pinnacle of McRae’s season was on New Year’s Eve as he scored 20 points. He went 8-12 from the field and 3-4 from three-point range.
