How DeAndre Liggins has performed prior to the All-Star break:
DeAndre Liggins was just an afterthought for many Cleveland Cavaliers fans as he edged out Dahntay Jones for the last roster spot prior to the season. Liggins was always known as lockdown defender in the NBA Development League (NBADL), winning Defensive Player of the Year honors twice in three years. Nonetheless, many had their doubts about if he could do that against the cream of the crop. Well, he can. Liggins performed so well against opposing point guards, looking Patrick Beverley-like in how he picked them up fullcourt, he was immediately considered an x-factor for the Cleveland Cavaliers in a potential championship series against the Golden State Warriors. Liggins, who isn’t known for his offensive capabilities, was benched because he’s not a volume shooter from behind the line although he has been efficient in general. He’s not a scorer but like Tristan Thompson, Liggins is always looking to make the right play.
Liggins biggest moment of the season came against the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day. Liggins helped hold Stephen Curry to a meager 15 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the field. Curry also only made 2 out of 7 shots he took from three-point range.
