Trade #8: Detroit Pistons

Cavaliers acquire Ish Smith; Pistons acquire Darrell Arthur; Nuggets acquire Iman Shumpert.

Why Cleveland would do it:

The Cavaliers again would fill their backup point guard position with a capable Ish Smith. Smith played well while Jackson was injured for the Motor City earlier on in the year. He is a very underrated and under appreciated member of that team and would fit well on Cleveland.

Why Detroit would do it:

Detroit’s starting power forward is Tobias Harris. Their backup shooting guard is Darrun Hilliard. In this scenario, Harris would go back to his natural small forward position. That would move Morris to the bench and bring Stanley Johnson to the backup shooting guard. This would give Detroit a lethal bench which is something that it lacked last season.

Why Denver would do it:

I’m not really sure. I tossed Denver in because I thought it was a good idea. Denver could use Shumpert at the backup small forward if Chandler is traded, but the problem is just how much Denver loves Arthur, and Arthur loves Denver. This trade isn’t happening from Denver’s standpoint which is a shame.
