Trade #10: Is Monta on the Block?

Cavaliers acquire Monta Ellis; Pacers acquire Iman Shumpert.

Why Cleveland would do it:

The whole Monta Ellis in Indiana worked out for the most part last season, but he having a horrific year. Whether it is just his aging or the Pacers and their team, it is obvious that he could use a change of environment. Cleveland, in my opinion, would do this because Ellis is more of a playmaker than Shumpert. They are swapping some playmaking but losing some perimeter defense. If playmaking is what they want, then it makes sense. Cleveland would also be able to convert Monta to a point guard, a position he is familiar with.

Why Indiana would do it:

Indiana isn’t losing too much here. Ellis is shooting 42.4% from the field and scoring only 7.9 points per game. Iman could start and hopefully find his full potential in Indiana. It would also give Indiana a steady defense presence on the wing.
