Kyle Korver wants to re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers and if he does, the Cavs have an even better chance of reaching the NBA Finals year after year.

According to Joe Vardon of cleveland.com. Kyle Korver would like to re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers. If he could have it his way, he would sign for another two or three seasons.

"“I know they (the Cavs) will have a lot of decisions to make this summer, with tax implications and things like that, but, yeah” – Korver on re-signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the offseason."

Because the Cleveland Cavaliers have Korver’s “Bird Rights”, he can sign with the Cavs for the maximum amount of years and money if that’s what the Cavs wanted to do. Like the Cavs situation with shooting guard J.R. Smith, who held out of training camp and preseason while waiting for the Cavs to meet his contract demands, the biggest question is how much are the Cavs really willing to spend on Korver when every dollar they spend over the tax line is being taxed by $3.50.

Korver, who looked like yet another soon-to-be victim to Father Time, is now surging with the Cleveland Cavaliers after being traded from the Atlanta Hawks last month.

“White Lightning”, as he’s affectionately called by the Cleveland Cavaliers, is now averaging 10.6 points per game for the Cavs while shooting 47.9 percent from the field and 48.2 percent from three-point range. He was averaging 9.5 points per game while shooting 44.1 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from three-point range before being traded by the Hawks.

Korver, who is now seventh all-time in made three-point field goals with 1,992 career treys after last night’s sensational performance, has had double-digit scoring efforts in 8 of his 15 game for the Cavs. Last night’s 29 points were the highest total he’s had in a game since the 2006-2007 season, when he played for the Philadelphia 76ers.

At 35-years-old but with those type of credentials, Korver probably won’t be looking for a hefty contract but he won’t be signing for pennies. Looking around the league at the deals that were signed last offseason, Korver could be in line for a two or three-year deal in the $8-$10 million dollar range.

Korver, like Channing Frye and Richard Jefferson, is a player that the Cavs can rely on because of his skill, experience and intangibles. His addition to the core of the Cavs will have a significant effect on their chances of winning more NBA championships.

As the Cavs rely more on their ability to space the floor with the three-point shot, Korver makes an elite team with the best player in the world a little more dangerous.
