10. Cleveland vs. Atlanta Hawks
In the semifinals of the NBA playoffs, the Cavs played a familiar foe in the Atlanta Hawks. 25 was the magic number on May 4, 2016, which went down as a special day for the Cavs. They broke several records that night, including the NBA record for most threes made in a game, regular season or playoff. They made 25 threes and shattered the previous record of 21. They also broke an NBA record and franchise playoff record for most made threes in a quarter (8) and in a half (18).
In addition, J.R. Smith personally broke a franchise record for made three-point field goals in a half with six. He scored 23 points and finished with seven threes. LeBron added 27 points on 9-of-15 shooting and 4-of-6 on threes, Kyrie added 19 points on 5-of-9 shooting and 4-of-5 threes and Love added 11 points on 3-of-4 threes. Frye added 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and 1-of-3 on threes and Jefferson had 8 points and made 2-of-2 threes. Shumpert, Dellavedova, Mo Williams and Dahntay Jones also got in on the three-point action, each making one three.
It’s no surprise that this game turned into a blowout. The Cavs broke team playoff record for points in a half with 74 and finished the game with a 25 point win (that magic number) with a final score of 123-98. They went up 2-0 in the semifinals and would go on to sweep the Hawks.
