Kenny Gabriel‘s most recent basketball action came with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat in the NBA summer league, but he’s no rookie.

Gabriel is a player who, in the league’s years of calling combo forwards “tweeners” and development players, was skipped over. In that time, Gabriel has been a valuable player overseas and has altered his game. Once a high-flying specialist, Gabriel has added a perimeter threat to his offensive arsenal.

Now, Gabriel has a chance to play for the Cavaliers in the regular season. Intelligence, shooting, length and athleticism are the hallmarks of Gabriel’s game. This type of profile isn’t very common in the league, yet, the Cavaliers seem to have found one intelligent and versatile wing after another in Shawn Marion, Richard Jefferson and Mike Dunleavy Jr.

However, now those players bodies are falling victim to Father Time, or they will soon.

Having a player like Gabriel on the roster will only help the Cavs on their quest to add more NBA Champion banners to the rafters inside of The Q.
