LeBron James: 10 Best Playoff Performances
Game 6 at Boston, 2012 Eastern Conference Finals
Widely considered as the finest game of LeBron James’ entire career, James was simply outstanding on this night in Boston.
By 2012, LeBron had built a significant rivalry with the Celtics. Having lost to them with the Cavaliers in both 2008 and 2010, James and the Heat had seemingly vanquished the veteran Celtics by defeating them in the 2011 Eastern Conference Semi Finals.
However, after winning the first two games of this series, the Celtics took the next three to have a commanding 3-2 lead going into Game 6 at the TD Garden in Boston.
With the whole Miami Big Three experiment hinging on the outcome of this game, a laser-focused James burnt down the Boston Garden.
Not one to pay attention to his critics, for one night, James played exactly how his critics had implored him to do for years, ruthlessly scoring against anyone the Celtics dared to put on him.
By halftime, James had 30 points making a stupendous 12-of-14 shots. James was unstoppable, scoring from the post, scoring in the mid-range, shooting threes and posterizing Celtics on put-back dunks.
With his entire legacy on the line, James finished the game with 45 points, 15 rebounds and five assists on 19 for 26 shooting as the Heat were able to force a Game 7.
James’ performance proved pivotal as the Heat were able to close out the series and defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals.
