The 2015-16 NBA season is about to come to a close as LeBron James seeks to move up to even more elite category in the all-time career achievements. With just eight games left in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ season, James added to his already impressive resume before the NBA Playoffs started.
After the game tonight against the Brooklyn Nets, James (26,689) supplanted Atlanta Hawks legend Dominique Wilkins (26,668) for 12th all time in career scoring with 24 points in just three quarters of play.
Additionally, he passed Detlef Schrempf in the all time rebounds department after grabbing four boards. With two steals for the game, James also passed Charles Barkley with whom he was tied before the game started. More details below. The Cavaliers’ leader once again went for multiple players’ career spots in a single game in three different categories.
As for a huge milestone that he achieved last week, LeBron became only the second player in NBA history behind Oscar Robertson to score 25,000 points, grab 7,000 rebounds and assist on 6,500 baskets. The monumental accomplishment came in the game against the Milwaukee Bucks (3/23) when James grabbed six rebounds to reach 7,004 rebounds for his career at that point.
After posting two triple-doubles in his last five games, LeBron is ready to go on beast mode in the playoffs with a more intense focus from here on.
Here are James’ career accomplishments the past two weeks:
- Scoring – As mentioned above, James (26,689) moved ahead of Wilkins (26,668) for the 12th spot in career scoring in tonight’s game versus the Nets.
- Rebounds – Also against the Nets, James passed Schrempf (7,023) for 101st in all time rebounds after grabbing four boards tonight for a total of 7,025 for his career.
- Assists – LeBron (6,776) is currently sitting on the 18th spot after moving ahead of assist kings Kevin Johnson (6,711) and Muggsy Bogues (6,726). He tied Johnson after the Cavs beat the L.A. Lakers (3/10) and then passed him in the next game when they defeated the Clippers (3/13). As for Bogues, James took over his spot when he dished out 12 assists versus the Utah Jazz (3/14) in the following game.
- Free-Throws Made – James (6,099) grabbed the 16th all-time spot from Wilt Chamberlain (6,057) in the game against the Los Angeles Clippers (3/13). Unless he makes more than 10 free-throws a game in the last seven games of the season, LeBron will most likely stay in this spot until next season when he passes Bob Petit (6,182) in the first few games of the 2016-17 season.
- Three-Pt Field Goals Made – James is currently at 31st place with 1,334 three-point field goals just four three-pointers away from the still-playing San Antonio Spurs star Manu Ginobili (30th, 1,338). He passed Mitch Richmond (1,626) after making three shots from three-point territory in the game against the aforementioned Clippers. He tied Baron Davis (1,332) during a tough loss against the Brooklyn Nets (3/24) and then zoomed ahead of him when the Cavs faced the New York Knicks (3/24) with two baskets from downtown.
- Steals – It took James (1,650) quite a few games to pass Barkley (1,648) in the steals department to take sole possession of 24th place. He tied the Hall of Famer in his previous game when they took on the Knicks and then passed the Round Mound of Rebound against Brooklyn tonight.
James is 21 points away from taking possession of the 11th spot which belongs to Oscar Robertson who has 26,710 points for his career.
In the next few games, the King will be moving up the career statistical ladder once more. Here are the categories to watch out for and the all-time players he will pass.
- Scoring – James is 21 points away from taking possession of the 11th spot which belongs to Oscar Robertson who has 26,710 points for his career.
- Rebounds – Depending on James and a certain Lakers legend’s performance in the coming games, he is now four rebounds away from moving past the retiring Kobe Bryant (7,028) for 100th place in the category.
- Steals – LeBron is set to take possession of the 23rd spot of this category as he is only 16 steals behind former Denver Nuggets All-Star Fat Lever (1,666). However, if James doesn’t play enough in the coming games or if he has a poor performance steals-wise, he’ll likely hang on to 24th ‘til the beginning of the following season.
With just seven games to go before the playoffs start, expect LeBron James to carry the Cleveland Cavaliers to the best record in the East while racking up huge numbers along the way.

A special shout out of condolences to Jay-Jay and Feliz Lucas whose 3-years-and-7-month old daughter, Caitlin, succumbed to a disease called juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML), a rare form of cancer that affects only one in a million children in the US. She passed away yesterday noon, breaking many hearts in the process.
