A risky trade for all involved. Danilo Gallinari has the kind of offensive skills that could help offset the loss of Love. Will Barton has the kind of two-way skills that could give the Cavs help against a great Warriors team while Gary Harris is a shooter that can also defend some. The Cavs might try to get a pick from the Nuggets as well, say the Grizzlies pick they deal last year for Mozgov, to make the deal fit just right.

Gallinari’s injury history, and struggles on defense, probably are enough for the Cavs to squash this deal but adding Barton, Harris and a pick, that could bring in more talent, could allow them to roll the dice.

For the Nuggets, this stops their spinning wheels. With Love and Mudiay, they have two young players to build their team around while they still have Kenneth Faried to either shop or partner up with Love downlow. The Nuggets haven’t been good enough in a long time but are not bad enough to get that top pick to change their team’s fortunes. Love gives them that.
