LeBron Joins Oscar Robertson in Top 20 All-Time Scoring and Assists
In one game, LeBron James managed to accomplish more than one milestone while putting himself in a category which used to belong to Oscar Robertson alone. He also managed to become the youngest player ever to score 26,000 points on the same night.
Unbelievable? So is Lebron.
Entering the Cleveland Cavaliers game versus the Detroit Pistons, James needed only four assists to pass Derek Harper (6,577 assists) and secure the 20th spot in all-time career assists. Currently at 17th in the career points department, he joins Oscar Robertson as the only players to be in the top 20 in all-time scoring and assists.
The big moment came when James assisted Kevin Love for a three-pointer with 7:51 left in the third quarter giving the Cavs an 11-point lead, 76-65.
As if by design, James also was 15 points shy of 26,000 for his career and no one doubted for a moment that he would reach that milestone before the game was over. The career achievement happened with 4:04 left also in the third quarter when James made the first of two free-throws. He made the second as well putting the Cavs ahead 87-69.
Additionally, the Cavs’ small forward is the 17th player to score 26,000 points or more for an entire career…
Anyone would be happy with just one milestone a night but LeBron is unlike everyone else.
Additionally, the Cavs’ small forward is the 17th player to score 26,000 points or more for an entire career and LeBron is only 31 years old with at least six to eight years left before he considers retirement.
Robertson has 26,710 career points (11th) and 9,887 assists (6th) while James’ career totals currently stand at 26,005 points and 6,582 assists.

Before the season is over, LeBron will most likely overtake the Big O in scoring and take the 11th spot barring any major setbacks. As for the assists, James, who averages roughly 500 dimes each year, would need at least six seasons to move ahead of the Cincinnati Royals and Milwaukee Bucks legend.
Considered the Cleveland Cavaliers’ greatest player ever and already in the top 10 greatest lists by the majority of basketball pundits, James’ 13th season is filled with career achievements that are growing every game.
