Marcus Thornton, Houston Rockets

Thornton, who played more then the Rockets probably expected earlier in the season due to injuries and poor play from other guards, has been a solid contributor and could be a potential target for the Cavaliers.

Thornton is shooting a hair under 36% from three-point range this season while averaging 10.8 points per game. On his catch and shoot three-point attempts, Thornton is more effective, as he shoots 38.8% from downtown on those shots. When taking two dribbles before shooting, Thornton is connecting on a ridiculous 62.5% of his three-point shots.

So Thornton is able to hit a fair amount of his attempts beyond the arc but on the defensive end, opponents are shooting 1.1% percent better than their season average. Thornton is someone who can hit the outside jumper but sometimes can try to do too much on the offensive end and he isn’t an impact making defender, so the Cavs should approach him with caution.
