LeBron James may have left the Miami Heat. LeBron James may have sold his Miami home. LeBron James may have led the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals in his first year back. But LeBron James is still gathering players to come to Miami.
Thankfully, this time, it is the Cavs players that he is gathering says a report by Chris Haynes:
"LeBron James has summoned his teammates to participate in pre-training camp workouts in Miami this week ahead of the start of Cavaliers camp on Sept. 29, league sources informed Northeast Ohio Media Group.A few players and coaches have already assembled in Miami while the majority of the team’s roster is expected to arrive towards the middle of the week, one source revealed."
Haynes goes on to talk about LeBron’s passion to bring a title to Cleveland after falling short to the Golden State Warriors. Joe Harris was the only player quoted in the piece:
"“I think it’s great what LeBron is doing,” Joe Harris, the Cavaliers’ second-year guard told NEOMG. “LeBron is the leader of our team. He’s setting the tone and wants to make sure we’re getting work in and going into camp with the same attitude and mentality. He’s focused and wants to make sure we’re all on the same page. He’s on a mission.”"
It is good to see LeBron this focused going into next season. He took a far more lackadaisical approach as a leader last year, trying to let his young teammates figure things out. This year, it seems, he is taking charge in a way that can do nothing but benefit the team.
The most positive part of this story might be missed by many. Not only does it say a few players have already arrived but also that coaches have as well. The post doesn’t mention what coaches, including whether or not Head Coach David Blatt will be involved, but having both players and coaches together before the start of Training Camp is nothing but a positive.
(The Cavs coaches likely have to be careful that they do not violate any CBA agreements during this process.)

The story notes that the “majority” of the Cavs roster will be there. It is likely that all healthy players, and Kyrie Irving for at least a time, will attend. It is possible that some of the players with Training Camp contracts may not be included but that would be a little shocking. Injuries and already scheduled activities will likely preclude someone from attending.
It will be interesting how Kevin Love looks returning as well as how Mo Williams and Richard Jefferson start to fit in with their new team. Health and continuity are the most important aspects for the Cavs going into the season. Irving is unlikely to be ready to start the season but Love is expected to be ready right away while its likely that Williams and Jefferson will likely attend to start the continuity process.
LeBron James is bringing players with him to Miami, this time it is a good thing for the Cavs.
Do you think this trip will help the Cavs Championship chances?
