Three trade options with the same team here. The Nuggets, with Mike Malone now at the helm, seem to be in transition. They drafted Emmanuel Mudiay to be their point guard of the future and have had too many players playing the same position for years. Ty Lawson has two years and over $25 million left on his deal, a lot of salary for a team that is rebuilding some. Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari play the same position, at least for the Nuggets, and are being paid a lot of money.

Starting with the first trade, the Cavs acquire Ty Lawson to give them a highly talented point guard who seems to be on the outs with the Nuggets. With two years left on his deal, Lawson can give the Cavs a great rotation at the point guard spot and can play along side Irving. He answers Griffin’s stated desire for more playmaking and versatility.

In the 2nd trade, the Nuggets move on from Gallinari their oft injured forward with a sweet stroke. The former Knick hasn’t lived up to his hype but he shoots well from deep as a big, 37% for his career, and can provide the Cavs a solid backup at the 3 and 4. Love is the only big that can space the floor, adding Danilo balances out the front court a little bit.

The 3rd trade is the more likely one. Chandler over $7 million left on his deal for this year. He was productive for the Nuggets last year after Galinari went down, averaging 14 points and 6 rebounds. He shots a decent 43% from the field but his 3 point shooting has been suspect, 34% last year. Chandler gives the Cavs a good defender behind LeBron who can also score some. He should help keep James rested for the long run next year.

How Likely? 50% – No one knows what the Nuggets are going to do with a new regime in place but it seems like they will do something. The Cavs hopefully take advantage to bring in one of these 3 players and improve their roster on their way to an NBA Title.
