To be fair, this trade was stolen from our friend Bob Evans from Cleveland Sports Zone. The Thunder are looking to clear both roster spots and salary cap space. They drafted Cameron Payne, who will replace D.J. Augustin as the team’s primary backup PG. Perry Jones III hasn’t gotten minutes and is out of the Thunder rotation. Anthony Morrow sits behind Dion Waiters and often Kyle Singler on the Thunder bench. The Thunder get a future 2nd Round pick and clear their roster/cap space needs to sign Enes Kanter and possibly avoid the Luxury Tax.

For the Cavs, this trade fills a ton of needs. Augustin is a solid veteran backup at the point, and can start early in the season if Kyrie Irving can’t go right away. Morrow provides a knock down shooter at the 2 guard spot, career 43% from deep. Jones is a upside play. He hasn’t gotten a ton of minutes, under 15 last year. The 6’11” forward gives the Cavs some creativity behind LeBron and is worth a shot at only 23 years old.

For many Cavs fans this trade will be seen as quantity over quality but getting three players that fill needs on the team is a good thing. The Cavs would still have their mini mid-level exception to finalize their roster.

How Likely? 35% – While this trade makes sense for everyone involved, can’t see the Thunder giving away this much depth even though they have depth at all of these spots. The Cavs would love to add these versatile, talented player though.
