Five Kevin Love Trade Scenarios
Apr 4, 2015; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Kentucky Wildcats forward Karl-Anthony Towns (12) dunks during the second half of the 2015 NCAA Men
Trading Love for Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Bennett is both unrealistic and perfect. KAT is a versatile player that doesn’t need the ball to make an impact. He is a much better defender, including being a great shot blocker, with a bigger, stronger body. He can bang down low while also having the foot speed to defend in space.
On offense, Towns can can play with his back to the basket but can also hit from the outside. He isn’t anywhere close to Love as a shooter but is still very good. He has soft hands and a good shooting stroke. Love is a great shooter and a great passer including those long outlet passes.
For the Timberwolves getting Love back would be interesting but very unlikely. Love would pair great with Andrew Wiggins. They can play pick and roll and pick and pop. He is loved in Minnesota and would give the team a bonafide star next to their cornerstone Wiggins. That is something that Love never had in his first go around.
This trade would have to wait until Towns signed and the 30 day wait period ended, much like the Cavs/T’Wolves trade last year. It isn’t going to happen but Towns is the type of player that would be a perfect replacement for Love, on a cheaper contract. Bennett is just a throw in to make salaries match. Other players/picks could be thrown in as well to make things work.
