NBA Finals: What Dellavedova Has to Do for Game 6 Win

Tuesday, June 16th, marks Game 6 of the NBA Finals. This game may seem like another NBA Finals game, but for the Cavaliers it’s much more than that. The Cavs are facing a possible elimination if they fail to win Tuesday night.

Currently trailing 3-2 in the Finals, the Cavaliers now need to regroup and figure out how they can tie this series back up. Many players for the Cavaliers need to reconstruct themselves in order for the team to win Game 6.

For Matthew Dellavedova, becoming the player he was during Game 2 and Game 3 would be more than enough to help the Cavaliers.

During Game 2 and Game 3, Dellevedova was the most exciting player on the court at all times. His shut down defense and scrappy all-around play made him a nightmare for the Golden State Warriors and a thrill for the Cavaliers. During Dellavedova’s two game spurge the Cavaliers took a 2-1 series lead, putting them in a great position to win the NBA Finals.

It wasn’t like he was putting up crazy numbers, but he provided the spark that the Cavs needed. He was all of the court and never slowed down. Dellavedova was the biggest name for the Cavaliers on defense and rebounding because he was everywhere the ball was.

In Game 6, Dellavedova needs to play exactly like he did during those two games. His intensity needs to increase and he needs to be the ball hawking player he was. He added a spark to the Cavaliers when he played like that. With the energy he proved, the Cavs were able to play like the high fliers most of them are.

Dellavedova also needs to be able to slow down Stephen Curry again. During Game 4 and Game 5, Curry was able to do anything he wanted against the Cavaliers, scoring 22 and 37 points in those two games. Delly can’t allow that to happen. If Cleveland wants any shot at winning they have to be able to stop Curry and that all starts with Dellavedova.

Although Delly may still be dealing with cramping which is causing his slow down of energy, he needs to do everything he can to play like he did before the cramps.

It’s simple, what Dellavedova needs to do in Game 6 is play like he played in Game 3. If he’s able to proved the energy that he did at the beginning of this series then the Cavaliers should be in good shape. No one is looking for him to score or supply LeBron with a traditional point guard, they’re looking for him to put Curry through torture. As long as he’s able to dive for loose balls, slow down Curry, and provide the team with energy, then Delly will be doing everything he can for the Cavaliers to win Game 6.
