It seems that whenever something isn’t going right with an NBA team, there seems to be reports of tension in the locker room. For the Cavaliers, reports of dissension are an annual thing, and after the team’s latest loss those reports are surfacing once again.
David Blatt is following in the footsteps of so many former Cavaliers head coaches in being named in a report that claims he’s losing his locker room.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, there is still a disconnect between some of the players and David Blatt, going back to the beginning of the season.
Windhorst: Since day one there has been a disconnect between some players and Blatt. Some players still have that disconnect still.#Cavs

We knew that there was a rough getting-to-know-you period at the beginning of the season for the Cavaliers but the fact that the rift still exists is not positive. Then again, this is a report coming after a blowout loss, so there is naturally going to be some upset people in the locker room.
Let’s not forget that Blatt came before LeBron James returned, and had the Cavaliers been in a situation where LeBron was back and there was no head coach, Blatt would not be the guy. That’s something everyone circles back to when things go wrong with the Cavaliers, and it’s something working against Blatt.
Winning fixes everything though, and if the Cavaliers storm through the NBA Playoffs and win their first title since forever, this will all be a footnote. You can’t go through a season with everyone loving you, and that’s something Blatt is learning the hard way.
