McGee has been hurt this season and this was supposed to be the year when he would be a starter, have a breakthrough year and silence everyone who merely sees him as an athletic goofball with a whole bunch of flaws. Even when McGee was healthy he simply wasn’t effective enough when Shaw tried to play him as a more conventional big man and it’s hard to say if he will ever change his identity as a player.
