The Rockets knew that the only way they could steal Asik from the Bulls was to put forth a back-loaded poison pill contract for Chicago to match. Obviously the Bulls didn’t match and the Rockets have ended up with a deal that is apparently harder to move than Daryl Morey previously expected. Asik’s salary will bump up to almost $15 million next year.
