5. Los Angeles Clippers (Down 3)

The offense, when running smoothly, is just a different animal under Doc Rivers. They’ve posted wins this week over three high-quality opponents on the road in Houston and at Staples Center over the Timberwolves and Thunder.

Perhaps an even tougher week lies ahead with a run of four games in five nights including trips to Minnesota and Oklahoma City before they host the physical Grizzlies and Bulls in early-start weekend games.

6. Minnesota Timberwolves (Up 4)

News came out this week that the Knicks are apparently interested in signing Kevin Love when his current contract expires after next season. Them along with the other 29 teams in the league I’m sure. I’ve waxed lyrical on Love’s incredible per-game averages already this season so this week I’ll sing the praises of the team as a whole.

They hung 47 on the Lakers in one quarter at Staples Center last week and topped that this week by pouring 100 points on the Cavaliers in just 34 minutes on the way to a 124-99 blowout. Healthy, this team is fearsome. Corey Brewer continues doing whatever he is asked to do – facilitate, run the offense or take on bigger scoring role as he did when Kevin Martin went down for a short while this week.
