18. Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks won the Gustavo Ayon sweepstakes! My perhaps irrational love of Gustavo aside, I fail to see anything that really jumps out at me from this newly rendered Hawks bench. In recent years you could best describe this franchise as “The Better Version of the Bucks”. Elton Brand’s best days are long gone, and his decent days are dwindling. John Jenkins is as impossible to predict as his three point shot, which at times was Enemy At The Gates accurate, before devolving into a rough approximation of me trying to nail 3s over NBA defenders. He closed the season 0-13 on treys, and was a non-entity in the post-season. Still, Jenkins can be counted as a net positive, a player whose defense has room to grow and who is very capable of big offensive nights. Perhaps a more alluring prospect is rookie Dennis Schroeder, who is already being described as a steal after showing equal amounts of poise and passing acumen during Summer League. He may turn out to be quite good in the long run, but he’s a rookie. You can’t put too much faith in rookies. They’ll break your heart. So will pretty girls and the Atlanta Hawks.
