NBA Free Agency 2013: Top 10 Biggest Surprises So Far
By Chris Philip
6. Andrei Kirilenko
From: Minnesota Timberwolves
To: Brooklyn Nets
Contract: 2 years/$6.5 million
Rationale: Usually when a player opts out of his contract, he wants more money, more minutes, or both. Andre Kirilenko, who started in all 64 games he appeared in last season, will presumably back up Paul Pierce in Brooklyn for a third of his former salary. Needless to say, that implausible scenario, coupled with Nets’ owner Mikhail Prokhorov’s shady past, has led to more than a few conspiracy theories.
