Nate “The Great” Thurmond was an athletic freak. He was the first player in NBA history to record an official quadruple-double.

He still holds the record for rebounds in a quarter with 18 and averaged 21 and 22 rebounds respectively in the 1966-67 and 67-68 seasons, something that has only been exceeded by Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain.
