Welcome to the Gospel!
Louise Ballast operated the Humpty Dumpty Barrel Drive-In in Denver throughout the early 1900s and was constantly looking for original ways to improve simple meals. One day he decided to put a slice of cheese on the burger, heated the cheese, and decided that the taste of the cheese went well with the beef.
Today, the cheeseburger is arguable the most recognized dish on American menus. And it all started in Denver Colorado, home of the Denver Nuggets. And most importantly, the site of the Cavaliers’ next taste of victory.
And here’s how it breaks down:
The Denver Nuggets hit the floor in the Pepsi Center sporting a 21-13 record. After missing several games with a strained left groin, Chauncey Billups looks to return to action in a matchup between two of the league’s premier teams. In 27 games for his club this season, Billups is averaging better than 17 points and 6 assists. Carmelo Anthony pours in an even 30 points a night while snagging almost 6.5 boards a night. Kenyon Martin and Nene man the paint for the Nuggets while combing for 25 points and 16 rebounds per game.
What to Look For:
After four straight sub-ten point games by Shaquille O’Neal, the Cleveland big man has surpassed the double digit mark in scoring for seven straight games. Look for the Big Fella to continue that streak on Friday night against Nene and the Denver Nuggets.
Prediction:
Mo Williams was awfully quiet in his seven point performance on Wednesday night against the Washington Wizards. He attempted only six shots and connected on three of them while adding 2 rebounds and 4 assists in his 28 minutes of work.
It was hardly a poor performance for the All-Star point guard but certainly not one that would impress All-Star voters. Mo has a knack for bouncing back though.
The second half to the Cavaliers’ potent offensive duo gets off to a great start canning two bombs in the opening quarter. He resorts to the mid-range game during the second period and torches Sir Chauncey Billups for 14 points in the quarter and leads all scorers with 22 heading into the break.
Billups returns the favor in the third quarter and pushes the Nuggets to within a deuce heading into the final period. LeBron James sits back and watches MoGotti put on quite the show in the opening minutes of the fourth. In the midst of an impressive 11-3 run, Mo picks the pocket of Carmelo Anthony and races down the floor. With only Billups to beat, Williams pulls up at the three point arc and drills a three right in Chauncey’s mouth to give him a game-high 36.
After a George Karl timeout helps to cool off the Cavs’ sweet shooting guard, the Denver Nuggets race back to within one with a minute remaining. Keep in mind: the Cavaliers are no longer perfect when their point guard scores 20+ points but they’re pretty darn close.
LeBron James takes the ball to the top of the key and uses a solid screen from Shaquille O’Neal to turn the corner on Melo. The King pulls up at the elbow and finds a wide open Anderson Varejao under the basket for the easy bucket to put Cleveland ahead by three. JR Smith’s deep range attempt sails wide right and a pair of free throws from Delonte West seals the deal as the Cleveland Cavaliers leave the arena as 96-91 victors.
