Richard Jefferson on his podcast chimes in on his thoughts on Kyrie Irving’s demanded trade.

Cavs superstar Kyrie Irving rocked the NBA with news coming out on Friday that he has demanded a trade out of Cleveland and wants to be the man of his own team.

Richard Jefferson and Cavaliers’ sideline reporter Allie Clifton responded to Irving’s trade demands.

Cavs shooting guard J.R. Smith also responded to this quote, saying he did not say this.

Here is Smith’s response.

This shocking Irving news comes out just a year after the Cavaliers won the title over the Warriors. Irving also hit the biggest shot in franchise history to help the Cavs win the title.

Irving has been with the franchise for six years now. Two years left with a player option on the third year. The superstar is only 25 years old and has grown up with the Cavaliers after not playing much in his only year with Cleveland.

It is pretty uncommon thing for this to happen (not a superstar demanding a trade), especially when the team has been to three straight finals and won a championship. LeBron has also talked about handing the reigns to Irving when he slows down/declines.

It is weird times happening for the Cavaliers. No one saw this coming.

However, the Cavs need to take advantage of the opportunity. The Cavs have a chance to get some really good young players, picks and assets.

Something they haven’t had the past three seasons. Possible trades involving the Suns’ Josh Jackson have surfaced and should intrigue Cleveland. While the thought was that LeBron might hand the team to Kyrie, maybe he will be able to hand the team to a player like himself in Jackson.

This offseason is hard to predict, and with the signing of Derrick Rose, anything could happen in Cleveland. Kyrie, an unreplaceable scorer, will most likely go to a team not quite as good, and it baffles most why he would want that.
