Kyrie Irving is doing what’s best for him, and here is why.

In the book, The 48 Laws of Power one of the Laws to obtain the power you desire is to never outshine the master. The “master” on the Cleveland Cavaliers is LeBron James. He is the best player, the head honcho, the big dog and the best player in the world. Who plays second fiddle? None other than Kyrie Irving.

With LeBron James rumored to leave in 2018 that left Kyrie to think, “What is the future for me like with the Cavaliers?” Kyrie never outshined LeBron James and now he feels as though he should have a bigger role.

Living under the shadow of the greatest is what breaks up bands and that’s why dynasties have broken up. We all know about the Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’ Neal drama. Kyrie just felt I have learned enough from you LeBron now it is time to step into my own path and do something with the knowledge and talents I have gained in these past three years.

When you are a child and your parents have been waving their finger at you for 21 years and you have just graduated college, you are looking to set your own path and get your job to start your career. Kyrie has said that LeBron is not his father and that is the most correct statement ever but LeBron has helped Kyrie Irving go from being the leader of a lottery team to being the best team in the east every year and being a shoe-in for the finals every year for what it seems like their annual June meetings with the Golden State Warriors.

The fans have called Kyrie every name under the sun, but we do not know what is going on in Kyrie’s head. I played a game called Ratchet and Clank and in the game Ratchet, the main character, goes out to join this squad that saves the world. Captain Qwark, who is the leader of the squad says that he can not join. Ratchet eventually earns his way on the team by saving the world and now Qwark is jealous of the fact that Ratchet is getting all the attention. So what does Qwark do? He joins the evil group destroying the world and tries to kill Ratchet.

Think of LeBron James as Kyrie’s Captain Qwark and Kyrie as Ratchet. LeBron said he was going to leave and go and join a team in the west a team that Kyrie was going to meet in the finals if he made it there without LeBron. Kyrie can smell what is happening and wants out before anything happens that messes up his career and you cannot blame him.

Kyrie wants to step out of the master’s shadow and into the spotlight of being his own player. Everybody that has lived did not want to be somebodies robin they want to be the one that’s in charge and calling the shots. What Kyrie is doing is not for what is good for the team but what is good for him, and before you can take care of anybody else you always have to make sure you take care of yourself.
