Charge can’t overcome Raptors 905, lose game one

The Canton Charge couldn’t overcome a slow start in the first quarter against Raptors 905 and the Raptors defeat the Charge 112-107.

Raptors 905 take a 1-0 lead in the round one of the playoffs. Game two is a must win situation this Saturday, as the Raptors 905 needs to win the next game to eliminate the Canton Charge.

The first quarter really set the tone for the whole game. The Charge were not in their offensive flow. They were too inconsistent and it seemed like they could not get any stops. Raptors 905 scored 36 points, while shooting 46.2% from the field. The Charge only scored 19 points in the first quarter and shot 34.8% from the field. Kay Felder was 1/5 from the field with 3 points.

The Charge seemed to find some offensive flow in the second quarter. They scored 26 points in the quarter and shot 45.5% from the field. However, the defense wasn’t there in the first half and it seemed like they could not get any stops in the first half. The Raptors scored 25 points in the second quarter and shot 44.4% from the field. The Raptors led 61-45 at the half.

The Charge then get some rhythm going in the third quarter and got some key stops in the quarter. The Charge scored 32 points in the third quarter and shot 48% from the field. The Raptors scored 24 points in the quarter and shot 47.4%. At the end of the third quarter, the Raptors led 85-77.

In the fourth quarter, the Charge had great offense and great defense. However, they just could not overcome the slow start. The Charge scored 30 points in the final frame and shot 52.4% from the field. Raptors 905 score 27 points in the final frame and shot 45% from the field.

Kay Felder led the Charge in scoring as he had 31 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Felder is the player of the game. Cameron Jones, who we did a profile on that was posted yesterday afternoon scored 12 points and had 2 assists and 2 rebounds off the bench. Roosevelt Jones, Eric Moreland and Jonathan Holmes all had double-doubles on the night in a losing effort.
